Heaviness...

A Call to Prayer

Heaviness…

This is the best word to describe the feeling that is weighing on me today. “I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. (Romans 9:2 ESV)

There is so much suffering that is being experienced in my community and the entire world, and my spirit is grieving.

Just this morning, I got another prayer request by text of someone fighting for their life, alone in a hospital bed.

My community has experienced significant loss the last two weeks. Several young people have lost their life due to tragic circumstances. Several adults have lost their life due to COVID. Many others are still fighting for their lives, as loved ones pray for a miracle.

It isn’t just my community experiencing this kind of loss. We watch the news and see heartache and tragedy happening all over the world.

The heaviness at times is overwhelming. I have struggled to even find words for a post this week.

So as I prayed for the words that God would have me write, I felt more than anything that I should post a call to prayer. We need to pray more than we ever have before. God tells us in His word to pray for others. I am taking this week and making a greater commitment to pray for my family, my community, my co-workers, government leaders, and people around the world. Please join me as I stand on this scripture, “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them by my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them(Matthew 18:19-20).”

Lord Jesus, our hearts are heavy. The news is filled with stories from all over the world that are full of tragedy and despair. Our communities are mourning the loss of lives caused by many different circumstances. Lord, I pray for families. I pray that our families and communities would unite together in love. I pray for everyone that is currently seeking a miracle for a loved one. Only you can heal, and only you can save. I pray for those that have lost loved ones through this challenging and difficult time, that you would comfort them and guide them. Surround our communities with your love, Lord. Let us feel your arms around us as we call out to you. But I pray that through it all, people around the world would come to know you. Amen
