You are special. You are loved. You are enough. You are chosen.
As I was preparing to write this post, I got stuck. I had a lot of ideas, it’s Easter of course. There is so much that I could say about the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. But I couldn’t decide where to start. So I did what we all do when we want to know something, I went to Google. I typed in Easter blog ideas to try and figure out what I wanted to focus on with this post. When I googled Easter blog ideas, do you know what answers I got? I got A LOT of ideas for Easter, but not one of them had anything to do with Christ.
Has society really forgotten the real reason we celebrate Easter? Yes, the Easter bunny and egg hunts are fun (and I have been known to steal my kids’ Easter candy). But we have been given an even better reason to celebrate.
God sent His only son to die on the cross for our sins. That’s how much God loves you and me. John 3:16 (ASV) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in Me will live, even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.” John 11:25-26 (NASV)
Jesus died on the cross so that all of us would have an opportunity to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. We just have to believe in Him and accept him as our savior.
Kari Jobe sings the song Forever, which so beautifully depicts the Easter Story of Christ’s death and resurrection.
The moon and stars they wept
The morning sun was dead
The savior of the world was fallen
His body on the cross
His blood poured out for us
The weight of every curse upon him
One final breath he gave
As heaven looked away
The son of God was laid in darkness
A battle in the grave
The war on death was waged
The power of hell forever broken
The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected king has rendered you defeated
Forever, he is glorified
Forever, he is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive
The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected king has rendered you defeated
He carried the weight of every sin on that cross.
He died to save a sinful world. But He died for YOU.
You are special. You are loved. You are enough. You are chosen.
On this Easter Sunday, remember that Jesus loves and cares for you. He died to save you from your sins. He died for you, He loves you that much.
Lord Jesus, thank you that you died on the cross for me. Forgive me if I have taken your love for granted. Thank you for saving me and loving me. Help me to put you first and turn away from my sinful ways. Amen
Journal prompt: Am I putting God first in my life? Have I taken His love or His saving grace for granted? What can I do this Easter to make Christ the focus of my celebration?
